The Mi Summit 2020 (“Contest”) is conducted by Xiaomi Technology India Private Limited (“Xiaomi”) on the Mi Summit Website (“Website”). For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”), wherever the context so requires, “you” or “student” shall mean any natural or legal person who has agreed to participate in this Contest. The term “Xiaomi”, “we”, “us”, “our” shall mean Xiaomi and its affiliates.

  1. ELIGIBILTY

The Student needs to fulfil the following eligibility criteria to enter the Contest:

  1. The Contest is open to only currently enrolled first and second year students of the two year full time MBA programs from the below mentioned institutes irrespective of their specializations: (i) FMS Delhi, (ii) IIM Indore, (iii) IIM Kozhikode, (iv) IIM Lucknow, (v) IIM Shillong, (vi) JBIMS Mumbai, (vii) MDI Gurgaon, (viii) NMIMS Mumbai, (ix) XLRI Jamshedpur.(x) IIM Calcutta (xi) IIM Ranchi (xii) IIM Kashipur (xiii) IIM Udaipur (xiv) IIFT (xv) IIM Bangalore (xvi) IIM Trichy (xvii) IIM Nagpur (xviii) SIBM Pune (xix) IIM Raipur (xx) IIM Amritsar (xxi) IIM Rohtak (xxii) NITIE, and (xxiii) MICA.
  2. You should be an individual legal resident of the Republic of India.
  3. You should be aged 18 years or above at the time of entry into the Contest.
  4. Employees of Xiaomi and its affiliates, their immediate family members (spouses, domestic partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren), and employees of Xiaomi’s advertising agencies and Contest partners are not eligible to participate in this Contest.
  5. An individual’s eligibility to participate will be based on his/her status on 31st August 2020.
  1. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
    1. A team of two students are required to participate in the Contest. Students cannot register themselves as part of more than one team. The students in one team will have to be from the same year and same institute.
    2. Xiaomi reserves the right to check the validity of the registration information submitted at any point of time.
    3. Any deviation from the above will result in immediate disqualification of both teams that the student has registered with.
    4. Modification of team post registration will not be allowed.
    5. Students would require to submit proof (student id scan / register using the institutional email id) of being a current student of the two year, full time MBA program at the time of registration. Students submitting false information / misinformation during registration will be automatically disqualified. The decision of Xiaomi in this regard shall be final and binding.
    6. All the submissions have to be made as a PowerPoint Presentation (4 slides) or Word Document (2 pages) and saved in a PDF format.
    7. There are no registration fees for the Contest. 
  1. REGISTRATION PROCESS
    1. Teams can register on the following link.
    2. Case Studies will be released for all institutes along with the timelines on the webpage. The Junior / First year students will have a separate set of case studies from the Senior / Second year students.
    3. The Contest will have 4 rounds. They are as follows: –
      • Round 1 / Case Study – General
        • Each team will have to work on the case assigned to juniors / seniors respectively.
        • The cases will be opened across campuses simultaneously and the same will be communicated to registered teams via mailer.
        • A specific amount of time will be allocated to solve the case, this will be communicated on the website and in the mailer.
        • Teams have to submit a solution in the form of a Power-Point Presentation (converted to PDF format) with not more than 4 slides (excluding the cover slide) or a 2 Page Word Document.
        • Teams will be shortlisted for the next round on the basis of this case study.
      • Round 2/ Campus Round
        • This round will be conducted virtually, with the meeting link communicated ahead of time.
        • Jury consisting of members from Leadership team of Xiaomi will be evaluating the presentations at these virtual meetings.
        • Top 5 teams in each category will be selected from each of the 23 campuses to present their detailed solutions to the jury.
        • Each team will be given 10 minutes (7 minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A) to present their solution.
        • The Jury will pick one Winner and one Runner-Up team in each category.
        • Winners will move to Round 3.
        • A wild card team/s may be chosen from amongst the Runner-Up teams to proceed to Round 3, based on their performance in this round.
      • Round 3 / Cluster Round
        • The Winners and the Wild card teams in the junior category and the senior category from each Cluster – A,B, C, D, and E will participate in this round through the virtual meeting link shared with each team.
        • Each team will be given 15 minutes (12 minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A) to present their solution.
        • All teams will need to present their detailed solution to Part-B of the case study, which is a continuation of the earlier case study.
        • Jury consisting of members from Leadership team of Xiaomi will be evaluating the presentations at these virtual meetings.
        • The Winning Teams from each Cluster in each category will advance to the next round.
      • Round 4 / National Round
        •  
        • 10 Finalist teams (one from each Cluster) will be provided a mentor to work on their solutions and refine them for final presentations.
        • The final presentation will also be conducted virtually.
        • The 10 finalist teams will present their solution to the distinguished jury consisting of top leaders of Xiaomi India.
        • Each team will be given 20 minutes (15 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q&A) to present their solutions.
        • Wildcard Internship opportunity may be provided to any participant at any moment in time during the competition.  
  1. PRIZES TO BE WON
    1. National Round/Round 4: For both seniors & juniors, the winner team will receive a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 /-, whereas the runner-up team will receive a cash prize of INR 50,000 /-
    2. Cluster Round/Round 3: For both seniors & juniors, the winner team will receive INR 20000+ worth of Xiaomi goodies along with PPIs, whereas the runner-up team will receive a cash prize of INR 10,000+ worth of Xiaomi goodies.
    3. Campus Round/Round 2: For both seniors & juniors, the winner team will receive INR 5000+ worth of Xiaomi goodies, whereas the runner-up team will receive a cash prize of INR 1500+ worth of Xiaomi goodies.
    4. All the winners will be declared in person and later uploaded on the website.
    5. All entries must be received within the specified timeline in order to be entered in the Contest. Xiaomi, its affiliates and agents are not responsible for entries not received, for whatever reason.
    6. Winners will be selected from all eligible case studies received during the specified submission period and shall be determined at the sole discretion of Xiaomi.
    7. Each of the winners will be notified via e-mail, using contact information provided or collected at the time of registration. The onus is on each member of the participating teams to ensure that the contact information submitted at the time of registration is correct and continues to be valid during the competition.
    8. Xiaomi shall have no liability for any winner notification that is lost, intercepted or not received by a winner for any reason.
    9. If, despite reasonable efforts, each potential winner does not respond within 30 days of the first notification attempt, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to such potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected.
    10. If any winner is found to be ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Terms or declines the prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternate winner may be selected.
  1. CONTEST PERIOD
      1. The tentative Contest Period for each rounds are stated below: –
        • Registrations and Round 1 Submissions (online) and will start from September 8, 2020 from 17:00 IST – September 13, 2020 till 23:59 IST.
        • Round 2 will be held virtually and will start from September 17, 2020 from 00:00 IST – October 5, 2020 till 23:59 IST.
        • Round 3 will be held virtually and will start from October 12, 2020 from 00:00 IST – October 16, 2020 till 23:59 IST.
        • Round 4 – the grand finale held virtually on October 26, 2020 from 00:00 IST and shall run till 23:59 IST.
      1. Entries received outside the prescribed timelines / not in the prescribed format / incomplete / plagiarized will not be considered eligible for Contest.
      2. If there is any conflict between the timelines mentioned in the terms & conditions and the website, the timelines mentioned in the website will prevail.
  2. INTERNET AND DATA ISSUES

    Please make sure that your internet connection is stable during the Contest. As this contest is being conducted virtually, the integrity of the contest would be affected by technical disruptions. In exceptional circumstances, the affected teams may appeal to the support email id given on the website for another chance to do their presentation. However this will be at the sole discretion of Xiaomi whether to grant such opportunity or not.

  3. INDEMNIFICATION AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, EACH STUDENT AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS XIAOMI AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS FROM ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGES, LOSSES OR INJURY RESULTING IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THAT STUDENT’S PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST AND THE ACCEPTANCE, USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE THAT MAY BE WON. XIAOMI AND ITS PARENT, AFFILIATE AND SUBSIDIARY COMPANIES DO NOT MAKE ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE CONDITION, FITNESS OR MERCHANTABILITY OF THE PRIZE. XIAOMI AND ITS PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL AGENCIES, AND ALL THEIR RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS DISCLAIM ANY LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE TO ANY COMPUTER SYSTEM RESULTING FROM ACCESS TO OR THE DOWNLOAD OF INFORMATION OR MATERIALS CONNECTED WITH THE CONTEST. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THAT IS PERMISSIBLE UNDER LAW, XIAOMI’S LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO INR 1000.

  4. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
    1. All rights, title and interest, including but not limited to the intellectual property rights, in the Contest material(s) and in any and all responses received shall vest with Xiaomi respectively. Xiaomi or any person or entity permitted by Xiaomi in this regard shall be entitled to use the responses received or any information in connection with the entry in any media/platform for future contest, marketing, publicity and any other purpose, without any permission and or payment to the Student.
    2. All material submitted in connection with the Contest (whether written, audio, electronic or visual form, or a combination of those) or any photographs, video and/or film footage and/or audio recording taken of Students are assigned to Xiaomi upon submission and become the property of Xiaomi exclusively.
    3. Xiaomi may use the material in any medium in any reasonable manner it deems fit. Copyright in any such material remains the sole property of Xiaomi and Xiaomi may use such material in any medium in any manner it deems fit.
  5. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
      1. In the event that the winner(s) decline the prize, the prize will be forfeited.
      2. The winners each have 30 days from the date they were notified about their prize to claim the prize after which the prize will be forfeited.
      3. The prize is not transferable, may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash, and may not be sold.
      4. Failure to comply with these official rules may result in Student’s disqualification, at the sole discretion of Xiaomi.
      5. Xiaomi reserves the right to terminate, suspend or amend the Contest, without notice, and for any reason, including, without limitation, if Xiaomi determines that the Contest cannot be conducted as planned.
      6. In the event any tampering or unauthorized intervention may have occurred, Xiaomi reserves the right to void suspect entries at issue.
      7. Xiaomi and its respective parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies, agents, and representatives, and any telephone network or service providers, are not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, technical malfunction, lost or delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, line failure or malfunction of any telephone network, computer equipment or software, the inability to access any website or online service or any other error, human or otherwise.
  6. Publicity

    The Student undertake and irrevocably and unconditionally permit Xiaomi to cover the Contest through various media/platforms inter alia newspapers, radio, television, news channels, internet, point of sale materials, etc. Student shall not raise any objection, protest or demur to such coverage and their use of name, voice, likeness, image, illustrations etc. by Xiaomi in this regard. The consent recorded for participating in this Contest will be deemed to be consent for such publicity related efforts.

  2. PRIVACY POLICY
    1. You will not be required to share any information with Xiaomi except where you win a prize, in which case you will have to share your email ID and mobile (“Correspondence Information”). No information other than the Correspondence Information shall be furnished by you to Xiaomi and Xiaomi assumes or undertakes no liability for any loss or damage suffered as a result of the use or misuse of such information.
    2. Xiaomi shall collect and store your Correspondence Information to: (a) comply with Xiaomi’s obligations under law; and (b) deliver the prizes to you in accordance with these Terms.
    3. Xiaomi does not for any reason whatsoever sell your Correspondence Information to any third party.
    4. Xiaomi will delete the Correspondence Information upon fulfilling its obligations under these Terms.
  1. NO CHEATING
    Cheating ruins the experience of the Contest for all students. If you are caught cheating by taking professional help, by plagiarizing solutions, by eavesdropping on other team’s rounds, etc. your team will be disqualified, prizes, if any will be taken back and this behavior will be reported to the management of the team’s college. Xiaomi’s decision shall be final and binding in this regard.
  1. MISCELLANEOUS
      • Xiaomi reserves the right of final decision on the interpretation of these Terms in the event of any Students finding them unclear.
      • Students shall at no point of time divulge the details of the case study, the solutions or other details to any third party.
      • All correspondence related to the Contest will be made by Xiaomi through its email ID misummit@xiaomi.com only or on team specific accounts created on the contest website. Students are advised not to provide their details to calls/emails from any other ID and Xiaomi will have no liability in relation thereto.
      • You shall indemnify and hold harmless Xiaomi and its officers, directors, agents, and employees, from any claim or demand, or actions including reasonable attorneys’ fees, made by any third party or penalty imposed due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms.
      • Xiaomi shall not be liable for any loss or damage due to act of God, governmental actions, force majeure circumstances, or any other reason beyond its control, and shall not be liable to pay any monetary compensation or otherwise for the same.
      • Xiaomi reserves the right at its sole discretion to withdraw, cancel, amend, or modify any part of or the entire Contest at any time without any notice and Xiaomi will have no liability in relation thereto.
      • These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the courts at Bangalore, India.

  8. Phase I submissions should not exceed 4 slides or 2 Pages and saved as PDF (Naming Convention for the File: InstituteName_TeamName_CaseName) For e.g.IIMA_FIRENnICE_Category OR IIMA_FIREnICE_OFFLINE)
  9. Xiaomi will own the solutions presented to it as a part of the process and can choose to implement them in part or whole and will not pay any royalties or share any profits arising from such implementation
  10. In any case of conflict, Jury’s decision will be final
